Mauro Calo breaks longest drift record with a Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG (video)

Whether you're a fan of drifting or not, you'll be impressed with Mauro Carlo's exploits. Last Sunday, the professional driver beat the world drift record, sailing across 2,038 metres behind the wheel of a Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG.

He drifted for 8.5 laps around the Mercedes-Benz World perimeter track, travelling 394 metres more than the previous record holder. Unfortunately, a tire started to detach from the rim and forced him to stop short of his 12-lap goal.

Though he's just made it into the record books, Calo plans on challenging other records, and not just any old ones either. He's looking to beat the blindfold speed record, currently held by Turkish folk singer Metin Senturk, who reached 292.94 km/h in a Ferrari F430 Scuderia without once looking at the road in front of him.
