Mazda begins production of the CX-9 for North American market

Designed and engineered specifically for the North American Market, Mazda's newest crossover SUV will be built in Japan and feature seven-passenger

seating. A "line-off" ceremony was held today at the Ujina plant no. 1 in Hiroshima near the Japanese carmakers global headquarters. The event was attended by some 450 staff as well as Hisakazu Imaki, the President and CEO. The CX-9 will go on sale alongside the CX-7 which went on sale in May. A larger machine, power will come from a V6 engine as opposed to the high-output turbocharged 4 cylinder favored in the CX-7 application. Imaki says "CX-9 is a key model aimed at raising the visibility of Mazda in North America and will be an integral part of building the brand.
