Frankfurt 2015: Mazda to present Koeru crossover concept

By ,

A new Mazda crossover concept called Koeru will make its global debut in September at the 2015 Frankfurt Auto Show. To whet our appetite, the Japanese automaker has posted a first image, which might just hint at the long-overdue, next-generation Mazda CX-9.

Of course, it’s hard to determine a vehicle’s size by looking at a sketch. Some have speculated that what we’re seeing is a possible CX-4 or CX-6, but don’t count on it in North America. The Mazda CX-5 and the all-new Mazda CX-3 have enough competition as it is; they don’t need another rival from within the family. That’s why a redesigned CX-9 makes more sense.

Koeru , Japanese for “exceed” or “go beyond,” is a fitting name for a Mazda crossover concept that aims to surpass existing standards and raise the bar for performance, fuel economy, and overall value. Styling is naturally defined by Mazda’s KODO – Soul of Motion design language, while the full lineup of SKYACTIV technology will work to deliver a dynamic, efficient driving experience.

Every other member of the new Mazda range will also be on display at the 2015 Frankfurt Auto Show including the Mazda6 and Mazda3.
