Fire up those forearms, torque-steer fans! The Mazdaspeed 3 is back, exploiting the 3's recent styling language for an even bigger visual punch, including a large vent in the hood. Mazda says the new model will carry forward with an updated version of the MZR 2.3 liter turbo engine that's now cleaner and more efficient, too.

The latest iteration of the popular pocket-rocket was just shown to audiences at the 2009 New York International Auto Show (NYIAS).Details aren't solid, though fans of the car can expect a mainly unchanged powerplant, including about 260 horsepower, a six-speed manual transmission and limited slip differential to help keep the front tires from spontaneously vaporizing. The Mazdaspeed 3 also gets numerous suspension and chassis updates to maximize the sporty handling dynamics built into the standard car. Also on display at New York is a refreshed and updated CX-7 which gets a new bumper treatment, happier looking face and a few safety tweaks. The big story for the 2010 CX-7 is under the hood-- where Mazda's giving owners the option of a non-turbocharged 2.5 litre four cylinder engine. The 161 horsepower mill comes with a five-speed automatic and front wheel drive, giving shoppers a more fuel-efficient option if they're taken in by the CX-7's looks.Mazda's three-row CX-9 crossover will be on display at the NYIAS too, boasting an updated exterior treatment. It's apparent that Mazda's infectuous new happy-faced design language is spreading across the family, as the updated CX-9 looks brighter and more expressive than the current model. Mazda says that various interior tweaks have been executed as well, alongside the addition of various safety updates.
