with devices like the iPod from Apple. Jumping aboard the convenience and portability bandwagon, Mazda is introducing an iPod adapter which will allow owners to connect gigabyte after gigabyte of portable tuneage to the factory installed stereo system.Initially launching in the Japanese market on August 22, the adapter will be sold as a dealer option in Mazda dealerships in countries throughout the world. The first venture of its kind, the system will be available to most future models. The adapter is priced at 23,100 JPY or about $230 Canadian dollars. Features include crystal clear sound reproduction and control of functions through the existing factory stereo controls. Operation of the iPod is totally controlled through the factory audio system, though file and track information is not displayed. Compatibility covers any dock-connector equipped unit, including the third generation iPods, iPod Nano and iPod Mini. iPod Shuffle owners will have to shuffle on down to the local electronics store and upgrade, as their units are not compatible with Mazda's adapter.Mazda does well at attracting today's youthful and cutting edge car shopper, and the factory installed iPod adapter will certainly appeal to those who want their music at hand at all times.
