Mazda's the latest carmaker to enter the competitive and popular B-Car market with their highly anticipated Mazda 2. Unveiled today at the Guangzhou International Motor Show, the 2 is a global strategic car for Mazda which will go on sale in China next year. The 2 (or "Demio" as it's known in Japan) will be built by a joint venture called Changan Ford Mazda Motors Limited- which consists of the carmakers which make up its name. Changan is an automobile group from China.
The Mazda 2's compact dimensions make it ideal for this market, as it comes in at 168 inches long and under 67 inches wide. The 2 carries a sleek and cat-like front end treatment, fog-lamps, alloy wheels and a sculpted and wind-swept look that starts in the front fenders and swoops to the rear of the car. A downward-sweeping beltline adds character and improves visibility too, and the interior is available with leather seating surfaces for an overall upper-scale and elegant look. The 2 has real potential to be the stand-out looker in its marketplace.Initially, it will only be offered in China- cementing Mazda's intention to capture new customers there. It completes Mazda's intended model lineup for the Chinese market, and will go on sale through the Changan Mazda Motor Sales Company's network in the first half of 2008.
