The Chinese-owned car manufacturer based in Birmingham, UK announced a full official factory-backed programme with the cars prepared by Triple Eight Race Engineering. They will be built to the BTCC’s new and turbocharged Next Generation Touring Car regulations.

Jason Plato, BTCC Champion in 2001 (with Triple Eight) and 2010 will spearhead the campaign as he seeks a third drivers’ title. For emerging star Andy Neate it’s an opportunity to shine in the BTCC.

MG last competed in the BTCC as a works entry from 2001-03. In 2005, MG Rover was supposed to enter the DTM touring car series. However their plans to enter the series were cancelled after the company collapsed in April 2005.
