Paint it Black: Mitsubishi‘s New Lancer & RVR Versions Black Editions unique to Canada now available

By ,

Mitsubishi caught the attention of its many devotees last week in Geneva with the unveiling of the all-new Eclipse Cross crossover. Yesterday the company followed up with the announcement that two new Canadian-only Black Editions of the Lancer and RVR models are launching in the coming days. The automaker is vying to create a wave of renewed interest in the two popular models.

The manufacturer enumerated up to 13 design elements distinguishing the new versions, including red-stitched bucket seats, exterior improvements like an all-black chassis and wheels, and of course a special Black Edition badge.

In addition to the aesthetic add-ons, buyers of the new Black Editions will also enjoy a 6.5-inch touchscreen display, through which they can connect to a smartphone and access Apple CarPlay and Android auto functionality – a first for the Lancer and RVR models.

“There’s an undeniable, head-turning cool factor to our Black Edition versions,” explained Don Ulmer, Senior Manager, Product Planning at Mitsubishi Motor Sales of Canada. “We expect the Black Edition will provide a sales lift to our already popular Lancer and RVR models.”

For the whole Canadian market, Mitsubishi plans on producing 600 RVR Black Editions (starting at $28,698) and 400 Lancer Black Editions (starting at $21,698).
