MKC sales get boost from parodies of Lincoln ads

By ,

Any publicity is good publicity, they say. Lincoln sure is proof of that. While its latest ad promoting the new MKC and starring actor Matthew McConaughey has been the subject of many parodies in recent weeks, MKC sales are now surging.

"We designed the campaign for the MKC to be able to create mass awareness about the vehicle," Lincoln spokesman Stephane Cesareo said. "We're pleased by this additional coverage."

Amboee Brand Intelligence, a California-based digital marketing firm, even claims that the Saturday Night Live parody (which featured Jim Carrey) led to an increase of more than 100% in the brand's visibility online via mobile devices and across social media the night and day after the episode aired.

Other spoofs were done on South Park and by talk-show host Ellen DeGeneres.
