More Recalls for Ford’s Faulty Door Latches

By ,

The recalls continue for Ford, as they’ve pulled another 390,000 late model (2012-2014) Fusions, MKZs, and Fiestas for door-latch troubles. This brings the total up to 1.4 million for this particular issue.

According to The Detroit Bureau , Ford has recalled close to 400k of those particular models (the majority from the USA but also from Canada and Mexico) due to a door latch that may experience a broken pawl spring tab. This will prevent the door from latching properly, which could result in the door opening while the car is in motion.

No deaths or serious injuries have been reported due to the faulty door latch, however, there have been reports of injured customers as the door swings back on them, and damage to other cars as customers were pulling into parking spots and their doors swung open onto nearby cars.
