NASCAR Canadian Tires Series to be back in Edmonton

The NASCAR Canadian Tires Series will be back at the 2012 Edmonton Indy that will be presented at the Edmonton Airport temporary race course July 20-22.

Event promoter Octane Management was also pleased to announce that the Star Mazda Championship will also be part of the event.

The NASCAR Canadian Tires Series has had a long history in Edmonton, dating back to the days of the former Champ Car Series in 2007, then with the IndyCar through 2010.

Andrew Ranger earned pole position three times and won the 2009 race, while J.R. Fitzpatrick was a winner in 2007 and 2010, the year he also earned the pole. Alex Tagliani won the 2008 event.

The Star Mazda Championship, a development series that stands between the US Formula 2000 series and Indy Lights will be featured, as well as a round of the Indy Lights Series.
