NASCAR: Hard Times for Richard Petty

By ,

The difficult economic conditions that are prevailing in the North American auto industry are beginning to take their toll as Richard Petty Motorsports had to lay-off some personnel and proceed with pay cuts because they are waiting for some money coming from Dodge.

The amount was not specified but it appears that Dodge won’t be able to send a check before all the legal details pertaining to Chrysler bankruptcy and its ensuing sale to Fiat has been finalized.

RPM has more than 300 employees and is trying to field four teams full-time in the Sprint Cup series. The team has yet to find sponsorship for the final 10 races of the season for AJ Allmendinger.
