Jimmie Johnson (Chevy No 48) started the Pepsi 500 NASCAR Sprint Cup race held Sunday evening at the Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, California, from the pole. He then dominated the race and won it followed by Gregg Biffle (Ford No 16) and Denny Hamlin (Camry No 11). Series point leaders Kyle Busch (Camry No 18) and Carl Edwards (Ford No 99) finished 7th and 6th respectively. As for Canadian Patrick Carpentier (Dodge No 10), he had qualified fifth but the transmission had to be changed and, according to NASCAR rules, he had to start 43rd and last. Nonetheless, Pat drove a very clean race and ended up 18th !
