NASCAR: Jimmie Johnson grabs the pole for the Phoenix race

NASCAR Sprint Cup point leader Jimmie Johnson (Chevy No 48) is more decided than ever to win his third championship in a row . To do so, he qualified first for Sunday's Checker O'Reilly Auto Parts 500 on Friday afternoon at the Phoenix International Raceway. Runner up in points Carl Edwards (Ford No 99) could not do better than 15th. Jamie McMurray (Ford No 26) ran the second best time while Kurt Busch (Dodge No 2) will start third on the grid. Only Joe Nemechek (Chevy No 78) did not qualify.
