Canadian Andrew Ranger , who started 21st for his second NASCAR K&N East event, finished 5th in a race that was stopped with 25 laps to go because of the rain over the Martinsville Speedway.

17-year-old Joe Gibbs Racing Development Driver Brett Moffitt, collected his third career NASCAR K&N Pro Series East win.

Ranger had a somewhat a good weekend, having finished fourth in the first practice session held Friday. Things did not go as planned in qualification when Ranger admitted he pushed too hard and ended up in 21st.

Right from the start of the race, the two-time NASCAR Canadian Tire series’ champion went to work and quickly gained grounds over the other cars. After 43 laps, Ranger was already sitting in 10th.

Unfortunately, difficulties during one of the pit stops dropped him back in 14th place. But Ranger went back to work and on lap 121 he was 8th, and on lap 133, he was 7th.

Ranger went on to gain two more positions and while sitting in fifth, the red flag was wave because of the rain that had start falling on the Martinsville Speedway. The race was eventually ended with just 25 laps to go.

The Roxton Pond driver was happy with his performance and especially glad for the team, which gained some more points with the car in good condition.

Before Ranger gets back behind the wheel on the No.35 car at New Hampshire Motor Speedway on Friday, June 25, Ranger will drive Jacombs Racing’s car for the upcoming Canadian Tire event on Mosport’s road course this coming Saturday.
