A NASCAR team spokesman has played down reports linking the American driver Kyle Busch with a move in 2011 to the new formula one outfit USF1.

USF1 sporting director Peter Windsor revealed last week that he has already met with the 24-year-old's business team, and that Busch should watch USF1's progress in 2010 before later making a decision about whether to switch codes.

Busch is under lucrative contract to Joe Gibbs Racing until the end of next year, and a team spokesman said of the USF1 speculation: "There's nothing to it.

"What was said (in Las Vegas) is all that needs to be said," the spokesman is quoted as saying by Autoweek .

The Las Vegas reference is to comments Busch made about USF1 earlier this year.

"It's definitely something I wouldn't shoot down," he said. "If I could win a championship in the next two or three years I wouldn't mind doing (F1) for a few years."
