NASCAR: Matt Kenseth fills in for Trevor Bayne and wins Charlotte race

Matt Kenseth, Carl Edwards and Kyle Busch battled it out all afternoon long during the Nationwide race held at Charlotte Motor Speedway. And Kenseth, who was subbing for Daytona 500 winner Trevor Bayne, passed Roush Fenway Racing teammate Carl Edwards late in the race to win the Top Gear 300.

Kenseth and Edwards were fighting for the leand until Matt made the pass stick on lap 198 and pulled away to win by 0.763 seconds, collecting his 26th Nationwide series victory in career.

Edwards arrived home in second place followed by Kyle Busch, poleman Ricky Stenhouse Jr. and Reed Sorenson. Edwards said the handling of his car tightened up in the final few laps.

Former Formula 1 World Champion Kimi Raikkonen made his Nationwide debut, driving the No. 87 Toyota Camry.

Raikkonen ran as high as 9th, but a pit-road speeding penalty and damage to the front splitter relegated him to 27th-place at the finish.

Elliott Sadler retains the series lead by one point over Stenhouse and two over Sorenson.
