Michael Waltrip Racing announced that it has signed Pat Tryson to be Crew Chief for Martin Truex, Jr. starting next season.

Tryson had worked with Mark Martin over at Roush Racing and currently has been with Kurt Busch at Penske Racing.

This can be considered part of MWR development which saw the team make strong gains in its' quest to be a championship contender.

In the past year MWR has added or announced, Truex, as driver, and Steve Hallam, formerly chief race strategist for the McLaren-Mercedes Formula One. Waltrip will race a limited schedule in 2010.

"Pat is a passionate competitor, a winner and a championship contender," said Waltrip in a statement. "Those were the traits we were looking for in a crew chief that would help Martin deliver on the track for NAPA for years to come."

"Michael Waltrip Racing has really come onto the scene this year and the progress they have made over a very short time is impressive," Tryson said.

"I believe that I can contribute. MWR is doing everything they can to get the NAPA Auto Parts Toyota back into victory lane and that's what my focus will be. Martin is a talented driver and we'll be doing everything we can to make that happen."
