NASCAR: New Stewart-Haas team may cause some surprises

By ,

Last year Daytona 500 winner Ryan Newman is optimistic about the future of the new team Stewart -Haas and he believes that, along with teammate owner/driver Tony Stewart (photo), they can both be part of the Chase Sprint Cup."I feel that there are going to be some things that we'll have to learn, but I think as a group that we'll be competitive right from the start," says Newman. "With the Hendrick components, myself and Darian Grubb and Tony Gibson, that there's no reason that we're not."Newman's Daytona 500 victory, last January, was the last of 13 he claimed for Penske and his first at NASCAR's biggest race. This will be his eighth full season at NASCAR's top level but he will not drive for Roger Penske for the first time in his career. photo: Chris Graythen / Getty Images for NASCAR
