NASCAR: Patrick Carpentier to race again in Sprint Cup this weekend

By ,

Canadian Patrick Carpentier , a former ChampCar and IndyCar racer, will be back behind the wheel of a Sprint Cup car this weekend at Michigan International Speedway.

Carpentier will be back in the No. 26 Air Guard-sponsored Ford of Latitude 43 Motorsports owned by Bill Jenkins, the car he drove last Sunday in Watkins Glen.

The Canadian will replace regular driver David Stremme who suddenly left the team earlier this week.

Since the No. 26 car is not automatically qualified on owner’s points, Carpentier will have to put it on the grid on pure speed.

Carpentier declared on Sirius XM Radio that team owner Bill Jenkins promised him he’d run the entire race if he qualifies the car.

Patrick Carpentier will also compete in the NAPA Auto Parts 200 Nationwide race later this month on circuit Gilles Villeneuve in Montreal.
