The NASCAR Sprint Cup series is running the short ¾-mile oval Richmond International Raceway, Virginia, this Saturday evening in a 400-mile race. Qualifying went on on Friday afternoon and local boy Denny Hamlin (Camry No 11) grabbed the pole position followed by Mark Martin (Chevy No 8) and Martin Truex Jr (Chevy No1). Canadian Patrick Carpentier (Dodge No 10) caused quite a surprise by taking the 4th starting spot. Six Dodges were amongst the ten first starters including Pat's team mates, Elliott Sadler (8th, Dodge No 19) and Kasey Kahne (9th, Dodge No 9).
