NASCAR: Two EGR crew members arrested in marijuana bust

The Charlotte Observer is reporting that two crew members of the Earnhardt Ganassi Racing team have been arrested for narcotics trafficking. One of them, Trevor Lysne, is the front tire changer on Juan Pablo Montoya’s Sprint Cup team.

According to a report filed by the Huntersville Police Department Lysne and Jerome Frey were in possession of ten and one-half pounds of marijuana.

Frey is a mechanic and part-time racer working out of the EGR shop.

Both have been released on bail but there is no reaction from the team about the arrest.

NASCAR has invoked a strict anti-drug program and it is expected that the sanctioning body will take some action punitive action in reaction to the arrests.
