Nearly 50,000 Dodge Viper, Jeep Grand Cherokee and Liberty models recalled

By ,

Chrysler is recalling 49,870 Dodge Viper (2003-2004), Jeep Grand Cherokee (2002-2004) and Jeep Liberty (2003-2004) in Canada due to a defect in the supplemental restraint system (SRS) that could result in an inadvertent deployment of the front airbag, side curtain airbag and/or seatbelt pretensioner, startling the driver and possibly leading to a crash. In some instances, inadvertent deployment could even cause minor injuries to vehicle occupants.

Consequently, dealers will replace the SRS control unit and may install an in-line jumper wiring harness to correct the issue. Note: This recall supersedes recalls 2012378 and 2013046. Vehicles that were repaired under the previous campaign will also need to be repaired under this campaign.
