Though they seemed to have easily won the Daytona 500 (and placed 6 cars in the top 10 finishers), Dodge cars will get a new engine with better water passages later during the season of NASCAR racing. Chevrolet got its new V8 last year and Toyota engines used in the Cup cars are now under the hood of Toyota's Craftsman truck and Nationwide vehicles. Ford will be allowed a new engine in 2009.
