Japanese car manufacturer Nissan is rumoured to be in talks with the ITR, the DTM championship organizers for an entry in 2012.
The Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters will modify is technical regulations for 2012 to help other brands to join Mercedes and Audi, which are competing alone in the championship since 2006.
BMW has already confirmed its DTM entry in 2012.
Accrding to Nissan vice-president Carlos Tavares, the make could join the three German car manufacturers in the DTM.
Nissan is currently involved in the GT1 World Championship, and in the Super GT, the Japanese GT championship.
There are no further precisions about Nissan’s involvement in these categories if it decides to race in the DTM series.
