Nissan is all-in at SEMA 2026 in Las Vegas. Not content with the three street-wise concepts previously announced – that would be the Sentra Spec-V, the Project NAT2 SCCA Touring 2 race car and the Datsun S30 Restomod – the Japanese automaker is also presenting three off-road concept vehicles designed to showcase the brand's potential for extreme performance and rugged customization.
Built on the Frontier midsize pickup, the Pathfinder three-row crossover and the full-size Armada SUV, these one-off creations offer a glimpse into the future direction of Nissan’s off-road styling and NISMO accessories. Not coincidentally, they come as Nissan tries to fluff up anticipation for the all-new Xterra, coming soon.
Frontier RONIN Concept: Twin-turbo power and wide-track stance
The headline-grabber of the trio is the Frontier RONIN concept, which reimagines the midsize truck with forced induction.
Under the hood, Nissan has added twin turbochargers to the pickup’s standard 3.8L V6 engine. To handle the extra power, the chassis gets a heavy-duty overhaul using components borrowed from the full-size Titan. The swap widens the truck's track by approximately 305 mm (12 inches) and raises the ride height by more than 102 mm (4 inches). This aggressive stance makes room for 35-inch Yokohama Geolandar X-AT tyres mounted on prototype 17-inch NISMO ASCEND beadlock wheels.
Other key additions include a custom big-brake kit, NISMO Off Road rock sliders, auxiliary lighting and a bed-mounted spare tyre carrier. Inside, the cabin receives sport bucket seats, additional engine monitoring gauges, and custom seat belts featuring topographic map detailing.
Pathfinder XE-V6 Concept: 40 years of heritage
Celebrating the nameplate’s 40th anniversary, the Pathfinder XE-V6 concept channels the spirit of the original 1980s WD21 Pathfinder. The exterior features period-correct retro graphics — combining vibrant red paint with black, charcoal, and silver side striping reminiscent of classic Patrol race vehicles — alongside vintage XE-V6 badging.
The homage goes well beyond visual flair. A custom suspension lift raises the unibody SUV by 102 mm (4 inches), clearing the way for Yokohama Geolandar off-road tires on prototype 18-inch NISMO wheels. High-clearance off-road bumpers, a heavy-duty roof rack and a swing-out rear tire carrier holding a full-size spare complete the retro-rugged transformation.
Armada Jungle Patrol Concept: Open-air safari vehicle
Making the biggest departure from factory specification, the Armada Jungle Patrol converts Nissan’s full-size SUV into an open-air safari rig. Drawing inspiration from classic Patrol expedition trucks, the build replaces the traditional enclosed roof with a tubular roll cage and features inward-facing rear seats.
The Jungle Patrol rides on massive 37-inch Yokohama Geolandar tyres supported by a custom long-travel suspension setup. Heavy-duty steel bumpers, broad fender flares, and an array of NISMO Off Road driving lights reinforce its heavy-duty expedition focus.
What will they lead to?
While none of the three SEMA builds are slated for immediate production, Nissan routinely uses the Las Vegas showcase as a testing ground for customer feedback and NISMO accessory development. Company executives pointed to previous SEMA builds that eventually inspired the production Rock Creek trim lines, hinting that elements from these concepts could influence future factory packages and factory-backed gear.
