October 2005 Canadian sales for a sample of manufacturers

Once again, the North American manufacturers are suffering worrisome loses as most Japanese makers post modest to large increases in sales. Audi posted 691 sales. A 27.7% increase over last year. The A4 is the best seller at 372 units.The A3 faired well with 134 sales. BMW got 1 888 sales of which 1 574 are BMW and 314 are from Mini.Sales for BMW are up 26.2% led by 740 3-Series.Mini sales are up 14.6%.Year to date: up 12.1%. DaimlerChrysler sold 14 894 vehicles (2 918 cars / 11 976 trucks)This represents a decrease of 11% over last year.October 2005 still turned out to be a record month for Ram with 3 052 sales Year to date: up 2.6% General Motors tallied up 29 641 sales. This represents an 11.1% decrease from last year.Passenger car sales decreased by 5.2%. Truck sales plummeted by 17.2%. Honda scored 13 579 sales of which 11 729 are Hondas and 1 850 are Acuras.This is an increase of 25.5% over last year.The best seller: The Civic with 6 812 units sold. An increase of 63.4%. Nissan /Infiniti has sold 4 683 vehicles combined (4 065 Nissans / 618 Infinitis).Best selling Nissan: The Altima with 1 149 sales.Best selling Infiniti: The G 35 with a total of 398 sales.
Toyota posted 14 709 sales of which 13 720 were Toyotas and 989 Lexus'.This represents an increase of 6.5% over last year. Toyota sales are up 6.2%.Lexus sales are up 11.4%.The star in Toyota's line-up, the Yaris with 1 416 units sold in only 2 weeks. Volkswagen has sold 2 982 cars and trucks.Their best seller was the Jetta 1 711 takers.Year to date: a 1.1% increase compared to 2004. *Numbers obtained from manufacturers press releases.*
