Peugeot sets fuel economy record with diesel engine

Peugeot has just set a new fuel economy record for a production car with a diesel-powered 208, covering 2,152 kilometres with a 43-litre tank, good for an average of 2.0L/100km.

As reported by TF1 , the feat took place at the PSA proving ground in Belchamp, France. Drivers took turns every 3-4 hours until they ran out of fuel 38 hours later.

Other notable fuel-economy records include a Volkswagen Passat TDI which averaged 3.02L/100km while travelling 13,071 kilometres across 48 U.S. states in 16 days back in 2013. It is actually a Guinness World Record.
