Porsche will soon unveil a new limited-edition version of the 911 GT3. Dubbed the Bergsport, the special edition pays tribute to Alpine roads and should be reserved for the European market. Its official debut is set for 1 September.
The news reportedly first began circulating after the model briefly appeared on Porsche's Austrian website. While the page was quickly taken down, a new post on the automaker's Swiss website has now confirmed the unveiling date, Autoblog reports.
A joint initiative across four European markets
The Porsche 911 GT3 Bergsport is said to be the result of a collaboration between the brand's French, Italian, Austrian, and Swiss divisions. These four Alpine countries contributed to developing this edition, which is presented as an homage to mountain driving.
The Bergsport name also recalls race cars designed for hillclimbing. Porsche boasts a long history in the discipline, most notably with its historic Bergspyder models, lightweight cars engineered to conquer mountain courses.
According to The Supercar Blog, production of the GT3 Bergsport will be limited to just 100 units. The model is expected to be offered exclusively in Europe, likely within the specific markets that participated in its creation. Consequently, availability in Canada or the United States is not anticipated.
A ducktail spoiler
Porsche has not yet released full technical specifications for this edition. However, the Bergsport is expected to retain the core mechanical setup of the current 911 GT3, including its naturally aspirated 4.0L flat-6 engine.
Prototypes spotted at the Nürburgring also point to a few distinct styling cues. Rather than adopting the massive fixed rear wing usually fitted to the GT3, the Bergsport could feature a ducktail spoiler, evoking the iconic 1970s Porsche 911 Carrera RS 2.7.
The Supercar Blog also raises the possibility of the engine being paired with a manual transmission, though this detail remains to be confirmed. Porsche is expected to detail output figures, available configurations, and pricing during the official debut.
The Bergsport will join a growing list of regional special editions recently developed around the 911 lineup. In 2026, Porsche notably introduced the GT3 100 Jahre Nürburgring and the GT3 Earls Court 51 Edition, two special series built for specific markets.
