Porsche introduces the Cayenne S Transsyberia

At the upcoming 2008 Mondial de l'Automobile de Paris, to be held from October 2 to 19, Porsche will unveil a special edition of its popular SUV that will be commercialized as the Cayenne S Transsyberia.Porsche designed the vehicle to commemorate the Cayenne S's success in the Trans-Siberian Rally. This gruelling endurance race is held over two weeks, during which competitors cross the 7,000 kilometres between Russia and Mongolia on secondary roads only.Based on the Cayenne S , the Transsyberia will be powered by a 4.8-litre, direct injection V8 producing 405 hp. Usually reserved for the Cayenne GTS , this engine will be coupled with a 6-speed automatic transmission.
The Cayenne S Transsyberia will also feature a slew of accessories designed to enhance its off-road capabilities, which namely include air suspension coupled with the PASM, a control system that constantly adjusts the suspension's firmness in order to optimize comfort and ride. The Transsyberia will also be equipped with 18-inch alloy wheels, protective understructure plates and Alcantara-covered sport seats. An extra off-road package is available featuring a locking rear differential, extra protective plates and a second tow hook. Six hundred units of the Cayenne S Transsyberia will be available in North America next summer as 2010 year models, with a base price of US$70,800. photo: Porsche
