For 2009, Mazda is upgrading the RX-8 sports coupe. New bumpers, headlights, tailpipes and alloy wheels are among the key changes. In order to improve handling, the automaker reinforced the chassis, particularly the front suspension system. Meanwhile, the rear suspension geometry has also been revised.
For more demanding drivers, Mazda will offer the R3 sport package, which includes upgraded Bilstein shocks, a rear spoiler, body skirts, fog lights and 19-inch alloys wrapped in high-performance tires. Inside, this tuned-up model will boast a 300-watt premium sound system, Recaro sports seats, a leather-wrapped hand brake lever and finally keyless entry.Good news for owners: Mazda announced that the powertrain warranty will be extended from 5 years/100,000 kilometers to 8 years/160,000 kilometers. It will apply not only to new RX-8 buyers but also to those who own a 2004 model or younger. photo: Mazda
