The organizers of the Dakar rally raid announced that the event would take place again in South America in 2011.
Created in 1978, the Dakar Rally (originally known as Paris-Dakar) has migrated to South America (Argentina and Chile) in 2009 following terrorist threats in West Africa (the 2008 edition had been canceled outright the eve of departure following a terrorist attack in Mauritania).
The ASO, organizer of the event, however, had revealed this year that a return to Africa was under consideration. The event finally remain in South America for a third consecutive year. The last one?
