Chrysler will add a diesel option to the 2014 Ram 1500, making it the only small-displacement diesel among half-ton trucks. This 3.0L V6 will be mated to an eight-speed TorqueFlite automatic transmission.
“Truck owners have been emphatically asking for it, and Ram will be the only manufacturer to offer a diesel powertrain in the half-ton segment with the 2014 Ram 1500 EcoDiesel,” said Fred Diaz, President and CEO — Ram Truck Brand and Chrysler de Mexico, Chrysler Group LLC.
It will also be among today's cleanest and most advanced diesel engines, with 60% fewer emissions than diesel powertrains 25 years ago.
The 2014 Ram 1500 is set to go on sale in the third quarter of 2013.
