Toyota Recalls 6,700 Land Cruisers in Canada over Fuel Leak/Fire Risk The defect involves a connection point that could separate and cause a fuel leak, which creates a risk of a fire.

Toyota has issued a recall affecting 6,721 Land Cruiser SUVs in Canada from the 2024 through 2027 model-years due to a potential issue with the fuel supply system. Registered under Transport Canada recall number 2026-497 and Toyota campaign code SRC RN5, the defect involves a connection point that could separate and cause a fuel leak.

A total of 105,794 units of the Land Cruiser are being recalled concurrently in the U.S. over the same issue.

The problem
According to safety notices published by Transport Canada and Toyota, a plastic fuel tube positioned above the fuel tank could detach from the main metal fuel line. If separation occurs, escaping fuel could cause the vehicle's engine to stall while driving. Fuel could possible continue leaking until the hybrid system’s gas engine shuts off. And that poses an obvious fire risk, since the escaping fuel could well come into contact with an ignition source.

The solution
To remedy the issue, dealership technicians will inspect the fuel line connection and install a retaining clamp on the fitting to prevent it from coming apart. If the inspection reveals damage or excessive wear, the plastic fuel tube will be replaced free of charge.

Toyota plans to notify affected owners by mail by mid-December 2026. Owners can also verify if their vehicle is included by entering their Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) into Toyota Canada’s online recall tool or by contacting the division’s customer service department at 1-888-869-6828.

Fourth recall for the hybrid SUV
This safety campaign represents the fourth recall for Toyota's mid-size off-roader since its redesign for the 2024 model-year. One recall, issued last May, affected nearly 7,000 units in Canada and addressed a software glitch that could cause the 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster to remain blank upon startup.
