Rinspeed Bamboo: Back to the roots

By ,

Are you familiar with Frank Rinderknecht and Rinspeed? Over the past few years, this Swiss car tuning expert has created by far some of the most imaginative yet unorthodox concepts the auto industry has ever seen. Among their popular achievements is a Lotus Elise converted into a zero-emission submersible . Called sQuba, it made quite a splash during its introduction at the 2008 Geneva Motor Show .

The company recently released pictures of their newest eccentricity. The 100-percent electric Bamboo will make its debut in Geneva next March. Adding classic '70s styling to a golf cart, this unique vehicle goes back to the roots of mobility. As the website points out: ''Anyone not blinded by horsepower orgies, chrome tinsel and top-speed frenzy should take a closer look''.

Aimed at beachgoers, the Bamboo sits four adults, reaches a max speed of 120 km/h and offers a range of about 105 kilometres with a full charge (at an average speed of 90 km/h). The gearbox includes reverse, neutral and forward.
