Are SUVs slowing in popularity? If you believe recent reports you'd think the Big 3 domestic brands are set for certain peril, considering the majority of their profits are derived from this sector of the market. But that said don't believe all you read unless it's from the source.
In this case the source is Ford of Canada, whose total sales were up last month from February 2002. What's most interesting is what is selling. Setting a new record for the second consecutive month were Ford and Lincoln SUV sales. February saw 3,626 Ford and Lincoln SUVs delivered to customers across the nation, a 33% increase from the same month last year.

"In this strong auto market, Canadians are buying vehicles that suit their busy, active lifestyles," stated Robert Girard, Vice President of Sales, Ford Motor Company of Canada, Limited. "From the convenience and affordability of the Ford Escape compact SUV, to the agility and elegance of the all-new Lincoln Aviator - we offer what meets customers' needs."
Total Lincoln sales shot up 28% last month hitting a 14-year high in the process, due a great deal to record-shattering sales of the recently redesigned Navigator luxury SUV and the launch the all-new Aviator midsize SUV - based on popular Ford Explorer architecture.
