Indeed, on May 8, 1982, Gilles Villeneuve was killed during a qualifying race for the Belgian Grand Prix in Zolder.Le Musée Gilles-Villeneuve in Berthierville is now working on a series of activities intended to commemorate Gilles's accomplishments and ambassador work during his four years with the Scuderia Ferrari."During this anniversary, we want to show the fabulous driver that Gilles Villeneuve was, instead of the accident that took his life. We will talk about his exploits, his enormous talent and his incredible charisma. Gilles Villeneuve was an exceptional driver. His desire to win still lives, 25 years after his death, within everyone. He's an example to follow", said Museum's General Manager Alain Bellehumeur.The next edition of the annual benefit banquet of the Gilles-Villeneuve museum will regroup motor racing fans on Tuesday, November 7, in Saint-Leonard. The museum's management will announce during this important event the new program called "Salut Gilles... Déja 25 ans!" ("Hi Gilles... already 25 years"). Activities include the 3rd annual rally of the museum (May 5, 2007), the famous Open Doors Day (May 6, 2007), the annual golf tournament (June 2007) as well as the popular karting camps for kids (under the supervision of Jacques Villeneuve, Gilles's brother).

The 2006 Banquet, presented by Auto Art Canada and Simulation F1 Cockpit, with the collaboration of Flagworld Communications, will be held on Tuesday, November 7, at Buffet Roma, 8050 Chamilly Street (at the corner of Jarry), in Saint-Leonard (North of Montreal.The event will be co-presided by Doctors Jacques Bouchard and Ronald Denis, who work as chief doctors at the Gilles-Villeneuve track since 1978!

Factory driver for Mercedes-Benz in the DTM Championship, Quebec's own Bruno Spengler will be the honorary guest of the 2006 Banquet at Le Musée Gilles-Villeneuve.Spengler, 23, from Prévost (Laurentian region), is making waves on the international racing scene since 2000. He won the 2002 Fran-Am Championship and finished second in the Formula Renault German Championship. After two years in F3 Euroseries, Spengler was hired by Mercedes-Benz to race in the DTM Championship. This year, he managed his way to four victories and the second place in the final standings.
