Scion’s compact RWD sports car, the 2013 FR-S, will come with an MSRP starting at $25,990; $27,170 if you want the six-speed autobox with paddle shifters.

The car gets a favourable front-to-rear weight ratio (53:47) and low centre of gravity from a midship-mounted boxer engine jointly developed by Toyota and Subaru. The 2.0L inline-4 produces 200 hp and 151 lb-ft of torque.

The FR-S exterior, inspired by the Toyota 2000GT, boasts an aerodynamic shape and low stance. Inside, seating for four includes a fold-flat rear seat for flexible cargo-carrying abilities. A centre-mounted tach is the focus of the three-gauge cluster and features a programmable shift indicator.

Eight-speaker Pioneer audio and auxiliary jack, as well as Bluetooth connectivity, come standard. Also standard are six airbags, traction control, electronic brakeforce distribution, enhanced vehicle stability control, brake assist, ABS and Smart Stop technology.
