Star Mazda: Caio Lara and Tristan Vautier clinched victory at New Jersey

Caio Lara and Tristan Vautier are the winners of both rounds presented at New Jersey circuit.

Conor Daly , who took four victories in-a-row, get pole position in qualifying, and aimed the record of a fifth consecutive win in the Star Mazda serie. But the American driver accelerated before the green lights, as did Tristan Vautier, who also started from first row of the grid. Both men get a drive through penalty, and dropped down in the field.

That gave Caio Lara the lead, before a accident in the back of the field brought yellow, and safety car period. At the restart, Lara lost briefly the lead versus Anders Krohn, but the Brazilian was able to take the first position back few seconds later.

Caio Lara took the win in race 1 ahead of Krohn and Conor Daly, who had a great catch up after his penalty. Mikael Grenier, from Québec, took a good 5th position.

Daly also secured pole position for race 2. But Tristan Vautier, who started again from outside row 1, was leading the field after the first corner. The Frenchman kept the lead until the checkered flag, and took his second win of the season (he won the inaugural race) ahead of Joao Horto and Anders Krohn, while Conor Daly was only 4th.

After his good performance in race 2, Mikael Grenier had a tough second race. The Canadian driver started from 3rd position on the grid, and had a very good start which put him right behind Conor Daly.

But Grenier had a contact with the American driver, which cost him a front wing. He lost 4 laps to fix it in the pits, and finished in 21st position.

Conor Daly still leads provisional classification ahead of Anders Krohn, Joao Horto, and Tristan Vautier.

Au classement général, Conor Daly conservait une bonne avance sur Anders Krohn, Joao Horto et Tristan Vautier.
