SUBARU LEGACY/OUTBACK FOR 2000

By ,

There are multiple choices at multiple MSRPs for the 2000 Legacy and Outback sedans and wagons from Subaru Canada.

The completely redesigned lines all feature the 2.5-litre, horizontally-opposed, SOHC 4-cylinder engine, some with 5-speed manual transmission and some with the 4-speed automatic. All come with all-wheel-drive as standard equipment.

The least expensive of the 2000 models is the Legacy Brighton wagon, which carries a sticker price of $23,595 when equipped with the 5-speed and $24,595 when equipped with the 4-speed automatic.

Moving up from there is the Legacy L in sedan or wagon, both of which list for $26,695, but that includes the 5-speed manual in the wagon and the 4-speed automatic in the sedan. To get the automatic shifter in the Legacy L wagon, the list price is $27,695.

The top trim in the Legacy wagon lineup is the GT, which includes the automatic and lists for $32,195. The top trim in the Legacy sedan is the GT Limited, which includes the automatic and lists for $33,995.

The higher-roofed, greater-ground clearance Outback starts at $31,395, which is the sticker price with the 5-speed manual. An automatic Outback lists for $32,395.

The big ticket Outback models both carry the Limited name and the automatic shifter, with the Outback Sedan Limited going for $34,695 and the Outback Limited (the wagon version) retailing for $36,295.
