During the Test Fest of the Automobile Journalists Association of Canada (AJAC), we asked our writers to present a short review of all the competing models in each category and to pick their winners. So, in the upcoming days, you will be able to read their brief articles and to get their impressions on the different vehicles. Our writers have been making road tests and comprehensive analyses in order to decide which models they liked best. On November 21, we will find out whether their choices were the same as those of the overall group of journalists on hand.With the growing number of cars and trucks on the market, consumers are scratching their heads when it comes to buying a new vehicle. In order to simplify the evaluations and to present the main trends in the auto industry, the AJAC created 13 categories. For a category to be created, it had to include at least three vehicles. In the case of a niche product, the automaker can decide in which category it wants the vehicle to appear, based on common features.
Here are the 13 categories: Small car (under $18,000) -- Honda Fit, Hyundai Accent hatchback, Nissan Versa, Pontiac Wave, Toyota Yaris Sedan Small car (over $18,000) -- Dodge Caliber, Hyundai Elantra, Nissan Sentra, Suzuki SX-4, Volkswagen Rabbit Family car ($22,000-$30,000) -- Chrysler Sebring, Kia Magentis, Nissan Altima, Toyota Camry Family car (over $30,000) -- Kia Amanti, Nissan Maxima, Saturn Aura, Toyota Camry Hybrid, Volkswagen Passat Wagon Luxury car (under $50,000) -- Infiniti G35X, Lexus ES 350, Lincoln MKZ
