GSR models, this one does away with air conditioning, soundproofing, premium audio and the rear spoiler.

Focusing on performance, the RS limits racing's arch nemesis: excessive weight. Therefore, it can get the most out of the powertrain. Under the hood is the same 2.0-liter, 4-cylinder, turbocharged engine with intercooler. Output is rated at 291 horsepower with 300 lb-ft of torque at 4,400 rpm. Both the RS and GSR models use a 5-speed manual transmission. However, all three Canadian models feature Mitsubishi's Super All-Wheel Control (S-AWC) system with active center differential and three driver-selectable driving modes: Gravel, Tarmac and Snow.The 2009 Lancer Evolution RS targets a very specific crowd, one that looks for pure, unbridled performance with no other sound or distraction than the engine's.
