This week, Subaru presented an all-new 7-passenger vehicle called the Exiga. Exclusively available in Japan, it stands between the
Legacy wagon and
Tribeca crossover .
Based on a modified
Forester platform, the Exiga is 4,740-mm long and 1,775-mm wide. The 135-mm extension of the wheelbase allowed the automaker to incorporate a third row of seats. The front end of the vehicle looks directly borrowed from the Legacy, while the dashboard is a carbon copy of the Forester's.Engine selection is nothing new as the Exiga is using other powertrains found in the lineup. The base model gets a 146-hp, 2.0-litre 4-cylinder boxer engine or, optionally, a 222-hp turbocharged variant. The 2.0GT comes standard with Subaru's symmetrical AWD technology and a 5-speed automatic transmission. Meanwhile, base models only offer a 4-speed autobox, with AWD as an option. For now, Subaru says there are no plans to sell the Exiga in Canada.
