The all-new smart fortwo is now on sale

Mercedes-Benz Canada has just announced that the next-generation smart fortwo is now on sale through the brand's Canadian dealers. The first of these new fortwos was delivered by smart Centre Mississauga to Tracy MacKenzie, a 24-year old resident of Brampton, Ontario.
Launched in Canada in late 2004, the smart car was an instant hit with Canadian buyers. Initially designed as a city car, the smart has also done extremely well outside major urban centres. Actually, in its first three years in Canada, more than 50 percent of all units sold have found takers in smaller markets and rural areas. The early forecast of 3,000 units was quickly surpassed and, after three years, Mercedes-Benz Canada has now retailed over 10,000 smarts. The new generation is available in three models: the pure coupe, starting at $14,990, the passion coupe, starting at $18,250, and the passion cabriolet, starting at $21,250. Standard convenience features include a 5-speed automatic transmission with manual shift mode, a central remote locking system, a leather steering wheel, power windows, AM/FM/CD radio, plus many other interesting amenities and safety devices.
