In a bid to make it more attractive, General Motors has decided to modify its line of subcompact cars for 2009. The
Pontiac Wave has been remodelled and is now known as the G3 Wave. And Chevrolet is following suit with its twin sister, the Aveo5.
The biggest novelty for the 2009 Aveo5 is unquestionably its engine. While maintaining its 1.6 litres of displacement, the new 4-cylinder engine, dubbed Ecotec, uses variable valve timing technology, which makes it more powerful than the current 1.6-litre engine and, according to GM, 10% more
fuel efficient . It will be coupled with either a 5-speed manual transmission or a 4-speed automatic one.Style-wise, the Aveo5 has received a facelift: the front and rear of the car have been completely redesigned. The grille stretches from the hood to the lower part of the bumper, Audi style. The headlights protrude more, and small side air intakes have been added where the A pillar meets the hood. In the back, the remodelled taillights are bigger. The Chevrolet Aveo5 is now available in dealerships at a base price of $13,270.
