The dreaded bubble

I love driving and being part of the action. If you're like me, you always make sure that you are aware of your surroundings whether you are doing 40 km/h or 140 km/h, not that I've ever done such a thing...

The core of my very person and soul burns when I notice “that” driver, in the middle of a thought or worse, on the phone, looks as though they are about to change lane. Unaware of the circulating cars in their vicinity, they either put the flicker on and change lane, without looking, begin changing lanes and then use the signal or best of all, no flicker, no looking.

I admit that when I notice such a driver, I immediately close the door on them; whatever “safe” distance I had left between myself and the car ahead of me, is gone. To my utter delight and frustration, I'm right a tad over half the time. And then we wonder why we have traffic and accidents...

I'm nowhere near being a passive driver; I hate to waste time. I'm not aggressive either but once someone sets me off with a stupid manoeuvre, I have to get myself as far away as possible from the bubble-dweller.

Said bubble-dweller is a person that does not care about anything else but themselves when behind the wheel of their impenetrable fortress on wheels that they leased used for 5 years at 9% interest 'cause they could not afford a nice car any other way... Sorry.

The matter at hand is respect and there is none on our roads. And unfortunately, as we can't beat them, we join them; I know I often have... There is no hope for our over-burdened roads.
