The Mazda CX-5 to hit dealerships in March 2012

By ,

In April, we learned that the MINAGI concept would be mass-produced under the moniker CX-5. According to whatcar.com, the compact crossover will be available for order in September 2011, with the first deliveries slated for March 2012.

Reportedly, buyers who leave a deposit for their unit will be able to get a complete refund if they aren’t satisfied by their new car during the first road test.

European consumers will have the choice between two SKYACTIV engines (including a 2.2-litre diesel mill), but it’s highly likely that the 2012 Mazda3’s 2.0-litre, 155-hp, 148-ft-lb, four-cylinder powerplant will hide beneath the CX-5’s hood.

According to information we previously obtained from Mazda, the latter should only burn 4.9 litres of fuel per 100 km and emit only 140 grams of CO2 in the Mazda3.

As for styling, the new crossover will differ somewhat from the MINAGI concept. We don’t know anything else at the moment, but we’ll definitely find out more in September when the auto show season kicks off.
