For many people, the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter is a mode of transportation designed exclusively to fill the needs of companies that move lots of building material. That was true until Richard Fertig founded Brilliant Transportation, a flourishing enterprise operating on the east coast of the United States and in the Los Angeles area.
The company uses completely remodelled Sprinters that stand out with their unusual cabins. What’s so unusual about them, you might ask? Hardwood floors, oversized leather seats, fridges, folding desks and built in furniture is what.
That’s on top of the eight-speaker sound system, 32-inch flat screen with satellite programming, wireless headsets, colour printers and a hands-free teleconference unit.
Though it sounds like it came straight out of Pimp My Ride and is not actually functional, this Sprinter is entirely real. And Brilliant Transportation’s “Private Motoring” service allows you to travel like in a first class plane or train ticket altogether.
According to Fertig, Brilliant Transportation is quite a hit with business people, well-to-do families and artists looking to get the most out of their travels. Even NBA players can stand up comfortably inside.
Reportedly, after trying it once 100% of Brilliant Transportation’s clients use the service again, so the company is doing quite well. In addition, operating costs for the Sprinter are relatively low, as it consumes only around 12 litres per 100 km and has a range of approximately 643 km. “Our clients generally need to stop before we do,” says Fertig.
