The Milwaukee Mile , which first opened for racing in 1903, pre-dating the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, has no major racing dates for 2010.
The Wisconsin State Fair Park which controls the property told the Milwaukee Sentinel Journal that, after months of negotiations with potential race promoters, no deal was reached with four potential groups.
Both the IndyCar Series and NASCAR’s Nationwide Series held events in Milwaukee this year but, according to reports, the sanctioning bodies have not been paid their fees.
In an ironic twist of fate, the track may see NASCAR Sprint Cup and Nationwide cars running – but in they would be in private tests. Last year NASCAR banned testing, except for series sanctioned dates, at active tracks. Since Milwaukee has no race dates for next year, it’s will now be possible to test there.
