Three firsts for Porsche at New York

It's a good time to be a horsepower nut. German automaker Porsche is adding even more ponies to their lineup of performance cars, and as a result, they've got three firsts to show off at the New York Auto Show . These consist of the world's first 300-plus horsepower Boxster model, the world's first 400-plus horsepower naturally-aspirated Cayenne SUV and the world's first 500-plus horsepower 911. Paying homage to its Sebring-winning forefather, the new Porsche Boxster RS 60 combines some exclusive features in the styling department with a 300+ horsepower engine all wrapped in an everyday-friendly package.

The Cayenne GTS joins the Boxster RS 60 at the company's display. The special SUV has the soul of a sports-car, and Porsche engineers have worked extensively to ensure a functional and exciting package. The transfer-case 4x4 system has been replaced with an all wheel drive setup, the suspension lowered and the rims enlarged to 20 inches. The intention of the GTS model is to be the best handling SUV in the world- and it's motivated by a 405 horsepower V8 engine that's available mated to a six-speed manual. The 'ultimate' 911 will also be on display, packing 530 horsepower and over 500 lb.-ft of torque. That makes it the worlds first 500+ horsepower 911, and one that's capable of reaching over 200 miles per hour. The New York Autoshow is open to the public March 21 to 30. photo: Porsche
